Description

The District Chief Executive of Adaklu has urged the youths of the community and the Volta Region at large to invest in coconut farming.

Phanuel Kadey Donkor in an interview with Joy News’ Ivy Setordjie at the district assembly’s farmland in Adaklu described it as a very lucrative business.

He noted that there exists a high demand for coconut, hence the need for youth to take advantage of the demand to make good money.

“[The] Adaklu district has very fertile lands and very soon demand for coconut will be high and serious farmers will see its financial benefits” he added.

Mr. Donkor noted that even though coconut farming required time and capital, profits are assured if well cultivated.

According to him, the district has four acres of Malaysian dwarf coconut farms under the Planting for Export and Rural Development programme.

He was optimistic that in about two years, the district will start selling coconuts in commercial quantities.
